Title and Level: Beauty Level 2 Diploma

Introduction
This course is ideal for those who wish to commence the initial training to start preparing for a career within the  Beauty Industry. This course provides the learner with an opportunity to develop a comprehensive range of skills ranging from practical skills to the theory of health, safety and security of the Salon environment, Skin Conditions and Reception duties. A full range of the units is described in the additional detail supplied under the heading Course Content.

Learners must be committed to regular attendance at the sessions whilst supplementing their learning experience with similar time spent on independent home study and practice.

Entry Requirements 
This course is suitable for motivated self learners. Enthusiasm and a commitment to the course is essential, if you are to be successful.

A general education with literacy skills at Level 2 is recommended, as there is an expectation that wriiten portfolio evidence will be completed in addition to the practical assessments.

Duration
The course is studied part-ime for two years. The course will be delivered for three hours session, one day a week for 34 weeks (Tuesday or Thursday evenings 18:00 - 21:00).

Careers prospects/Progression
Successful completion of this course can lead to further study, e.g. a Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy which includes all the training for electrical machines. Alternatively employment may be sought at beauty salons, health farms, leisure centres, theatre, T.V. or on cruise ships.

Your course will be assessed in a variety of ways:
Through practical assessments to determine your competency within the treatments
A portfolio of evidence
Every unit includes an on-line external assessment, paper based alternatives are available

MANDATORY UNITS
B4     Provide facial skin care treatment
B5     Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes
B6     Carry out waxing services
N2     Provide manicure and pedicure services
G20   Health and safety
G18   Promote additional services or products to clients
G8     Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
OPTIONAL UNITS
G4     Fulfil salon reception duties
B8     Provide make up services

Course fees: £635.90

Textbooks

Uniform and kits are at a set cost of approximately £380.00 and this includes text books and treatment items for the course.   For those who this represents financial hardship, there are funds available via an application which will only be successful if need is established. The successful applicant is required to seek assistance at enrolment.
A consumable fee is charged for products, this is £40.
A non-compulsory residential is offered at a cost of approxamately £350, the price and destination will be confirmed at the start of the course in September.
