Careers Education at Yeovil College
Careers education and advice forms an integral part of the tutorial programme and students will be involved in on-going discussions with their tutor. In addition the Connexions Service provides a specialist advice, information, guidance and support service for all learners up to their 20th birthday, working within the college but remaining independent of it.
Our Personal Advisers provide mentoring and support to learners to help with the transition to their next destination – another course, higher education, training or work, and includes careers advice, information and guidance as well as additional support on all personal, social and emotional issues.
The service is impartial, discrete and confidential, engaging with external agencies to ensure the holistic needs of learners are met. Interviews can be booked at the reception desk in the Study Centre or at the Connexions office in Hendford, Yeovil.
The Study Centre houses an extensive careers library maintained and updated by a dedicated member of staff. Facilities include a wide range of computer based resources together with books and university prospectuses.
The college organises a programme of careers events throughout the year and many students are involved in work experience as part of their course. Details of the main events will be publicised to parents through target report letters.
