Have you taken part in clubs and activities outside of school hours? Do you want to carry on when you are at College?
At Yeovil College, we encourage students to take part in enrichment activities, such as sports teams, performing arts and volunteering. Activities such as these make you stand out from the crowd, demonstrating an additional level of development and commitment which can get you noticed when you apply to university or for a job.
We have a vibrant range of enrichment activities, which are open to all students. Many of them take place regularly on a Wednesday afternoon, but others take place at other times during the week. Our most popular enrichment opportunities include:

Sports Clubs and ActivitiesThe College offers a wide range of sport and recreational opportunities. A number of College teams have achieved success in British Colleges' competitions and individuals have received representative honours at regional and national level. There are also opportunities to develop officiating, coaching and leadership skills. Provision for recreational sports encompasses a wide range of activities, including Athletics, Self Defence/Ju-Jutsu, Swimming, Cross Country, Street and Hip Hop Dance, Pilates, Tennis, Badminton, Fencing, Hockey, Rounders, Trampolining, Basketball, Fitness, Judo, Volleyball, Cricket, Netball, Football, Rugby, Table Tennis and Speed, Agility and Quickness training (SAQ). Many of these events are on Wednesday afternoons but several take place after college. The College also offers the Step into Sport community volunteering programme. Elite Sports ProgrammeIf you are an outstanding performer in any sport we can provide you with support to further your progression including fitness and conditioning programmes as well as advice on nutrition and sports psychology. In sport we operate specialist Sports Academies with high quality coaching and progression through to high quality clubs. |

Annual College ProductionTalented students from across the College perform in the annual Yeovil College production, as well as helping to design and build the set, produce the costumes and help with the administrative work involved with planning the production. Previous shows have taken place at the Octagon Theatre, Yeovil, and the College's own Main Hall. Recent productions have included 'Night and Day', 'A Chorus Line', 'Little Shop of Horrors' and 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street'. |

Duke of Edinburgh Award SchemeThe Duke of Edinburgh's Award is for young people between 14 and 25 years and gives you opportunities for personal achievement, community involvement, adventure and fun, whilst developing a range of personal and social skills. It is actively sought by employers, colleges, universities and the Armed Forces. Some of the benefits to young people include developing self-confidence and self-reliance, gaining a sense of achievement and responsibility, discovering new interests and talents and developing leadership skills and abilities. We offer all three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. |

Debating SocietyLearning to formulate and debate ideas is an excellent skill in preparation for Higher Education and many careers, such as Law, where confidence in speaking and presenting ideas are vital. The skills you develop can also help with developing arguements in your assignments. |
