GCSEs and the Pathways Programme
There are some circumstances in which a student may wish to make GCSEs part of their programme:
- Students who narrowly miss C grades in Maths and/or English may wish to re-take one or both of these subjects alongside their main programme of study. It is not usually possible to combine NVQ qualifications with GCSE retakes.
- Students who have not taken GCSEs or who have taken only a limited range may wish to study a full programme of GCSE subjects. These may be students who have suffered significant illness or stress, or who have not been in school. These students may choose to join the Pathways Programme. This gives them the chance to study English, Maths, Science and IT. This will also include key skills and the enrichment programme.
