What Happens at Enrolment?

All students are invited to an enrolment interview in late August when their programme of study is finalised. We are quite happy for you to accompany your son/daughter at this interview. A number of things will happen at this interview:-

  1. Recording of Examination Scores
It is important that students bring their results slip to the interview as well as a photocopy or scanned copy so that we can record all examination results. This information will be used in the future when references are prepared but it is also used to help in the target setting process.
Students are awarded 8 points for an A* down to 1 point for a G grade. The average score is used as a guide when helping to recommend the most suitable programme of study.
Average score of 5.0+ = suitable for an AS or National Diploma programme
Average score of 4.5-5.0 - more suitable for a National Certificate course
Average score of less than 4.5 = unlikely to be successful on a level 3 programme
  2. Selection of enrichment activity
The college offers a wide range of performing arts and sports activities.
  3. Confirmation of Programme
All students will be interviewed to ensure that they are commencing on an appropriate course of study.
  4. Criminal Records Bureau check
A CRB check is required for all courses in Health & Care and Sport. Students will have been made aware of this at their first interview. There is a £65 fee for this check
  5. Student support
Students requiring any form of learning or financial support will have an opportunity to discuss their needs with one of our support team.
  6. Payment of resource charge
All students are required to pay a resources charge of £50 which should be paid at enrolment in either cash, cheque (made payable to Yeovil College) or with a debit/credit card. £40 of this charge will be returned if a student leaves within the first full week of the autumn term. After this period there will be no refunds. Extra course specific costs wherever possible will be discussed at Enrolment or Induction.
  7. ID Card
Students will be provided with a photo identity card which, for security, must be worn at all times when on the college campus. Students who are not wearing their ID card will not be permitted into lessons or to use the services provided by the Megabite Canteen and the Learning Centre
